Spicy chicken lollipops

October 15, 2018
The perfect appetizer and the most popular chicken starter at home, these tender chicken lollipops are served with delicious hot, spicy and sweet sauce.

Ingredients

For the marination

10 chicken drumettes / wings
1/2 tsp soya sauce
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp salt or per taste
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp chili powder
1 tbsp corn flour
Oil for deep frying/ grilling

For the chili coating

1 tsp oil
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 small onion (finely chopped)
1 tsp chili powder
2 tsp water
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp vinegar
1/4 cup water

Directions

  1. First cut the meat around the chicken wings or drumettes and pull it towards the top  to shape it like a lollipop.
  2. Marinate the chicken with soya sauce, pepper powder, salt, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste and chili powder. Wrap the chicken bowl and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight is best.
  3. Once taken from the refrigerator, mix cornflour well into the marinated chicken drumettes.
  4. Deep fry them in hot oil or grill. (I have deep fried them)
  5. Once fried, put the chicken lollipops in kitchen towels to drain the excess oil.
  6. Now prepare the chili coating. Heat oil a pan or wok.
  7. Saute ginger garlic paste and chopped onions in the oil.
  8. Mix the chili powder with 2 tsp water and make a thick paste. Add this paste to the oil. Saute.
  9. Next add the vinegar stir and then add the sugar and 1/4 cup water and saute well.
  10. Let it simmer until it becomes thick.
  11. Dip the chicken lollipops into this and serve hot.
  12. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves (optional). Enjoy!!
