Tandoori Chicken Submarine

The tandoori-style spices in this chicken gives a nice flavour that makes a great sandwich bread. Combination of these two, filled with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, mayonnaise  and cheese.




Ingredients

For the marination of Tandoori chicken

300g chicken breasts

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp Garam masala
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp yogurt
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt to taste
a pinch of red colouring
1 tsp tandoori masala


For the filling

1 large onion (sliced)
2 capsicums (sliced )
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp vegetable oil
salt to taste

For the submarine bun

500g all purpose flour
2 tsp instant yeast
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp milk powder
3 tbsp melted butter
1 1/2 cup luke warm water
1 egg white

For the dressing

Slice cheese
Yogurt
Tomato ketchup
Mayonnaise
Butter
Lettuce
Cucumber or pickle


Directions

Preparation of the tandoori chicken

  1. Wash and clean the chicken and wipe it with a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture. Make 3- 4 deep cuts.
  2. In a small bowl, prepare the a thick paste by mixing all the ingredients mentioned above for marinating. 
  3. Apply it all over the chicken making sure to apply well between the slits and inside. Cover it with foil and refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours.
  4. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Bake for 20-35 minutes till chicken get cooked.
  5. Remove from oven cut them into pieces. 

First prepare the filling
  1.  Heat a pan with oil and add ginger garlic paste, sliced onions, capsicums and stir fry for a minute. Then add the diced tandoori chicken and mix well. 
 Prepare the submarine bun


  1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius and prepare a baking tray lined with parchment paper. 
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, milk powder, sugar and salt. Add little water at a time and knead it into a dough. Now add the butter and knead well for at least 10 minutes to get a very soft and smooth dough. 
  3. Cover and let the dough rise for about 1 hour or until its double in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and make 4 balls. Cover and leave the balls to rise for about 15 minutes.
  5. After the second rise roll out the dough into an oval shape and roll it like how you roll a swiss roll cake. Seal the edges tightly and place it on the baking tray.
  6. Apply water on top and sprinkle some sesame seeds if desired. Cover and let it rise again for another 15 minutes. 
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes in a preheated oven. 
  8. Once baked from the oven, let it cool before you slice. 
  9. Make the sauce by mixing mayonnaise, yogurt and tomato ketchup. 
  10. Slice and apply butter first and then the sauce prepared. (If you like u can grill the buns after slicing it into two)
  11. Fill it with the tandoori chicken filling, slice cheese, cucumbers and salad leaves. (You can fill it with anything of your choice)
