Chocolate Banana cake
This rich banana cake is the chocolate version of my favorite recipe for banana cake. Adding chocolate powder to a classic banana cake recipe will make it a family favourite.
Ingredients
2 cups mashed bananas (2 large bananas over riped)
250g brown sugar
250g Flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
250g butter
4 eggs
1tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp banana essence
1/4 cup fresh milk
30g Plums finely chopped (optional)
30g roasted cashews or walnuts (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celcius.
- Siflt flour, baking powder and cocoa powder together. Set aside.
- Beat butter and sugar well until creamy. Add one egg at a time and beat well.
- Fold in the sifted flour mixture in to the batter using a spatula.
- Then add the mashed bananas and fold to incorporate.
- Mix baking soda with the milk and mix it into the batter.
- Finally add vanila essence and banana essence along with chopped plums and cashews.
- Pour it to a lined baking pan and bake for 30 minutes under 180 degrees Celsius, until the top layer becomes brown.
- After 30 minutes, cover the pan with foil and bake for another 30 minutes covered, wen tooth pick inserted, it comes out clean.
- Let it cool completely and top with Chocolate Ganache. You can also serve it plain. Enjoy!
