Keema filling

September 28, 2018
This spicy Keema filling made of ground chicken or beef can be used in anything. I use this keema filling for Pies, Blintzes, Buns and Turkish pides. You can make these in batches and freeze to be used whenever needed. This saves a lot of time.

Ingredients

250g minced chicken/ beef
2 tbsp oil
1 onion (finely chopped)
1 green chilli (finely chopped)
1 tsp garlic paste
1 small tomato (finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Curry leaves (optional)
Coriander leaves to garnish (optional)
Spices required
1 tbsp chili powder/ paprika powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin seeds powder
1 tsp pepper powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
2 cloves
A small piece of cinnamon

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium to high heat. When it is hot add the cloves and cinnamon along with curry leaves and garlic paste. Saute for 10 seconds.
  2. Then add the chopped onions and green chilies. Saute well until onions get translucent.
  3. Mix all the spice powders, salt and chopped tomatoes with the minced meat.
  4. Now add the minced meat mixture to the the onions. Saute altogether. Cook the minced meat with the water it releases, stirring occasionally in medium heat. (Don't close)
  5. When the water in the minced meat has simmered, turn off heat and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Your keema filling is ready. Enjoy!
