For the vanilla frosting

Ingredients
100g salted butter
300g of Icing sugar (sifted)
1/4 tsp vanilla powder
1 tsp milk/ condensed milk

Directions
Beat the butter with an electric mixer well and add icing sugar, vanilla and milk. Beat everything everything well until smooth.

For Dipping the cake pops

200g candy melts/white cooking chocolate
1 tsp vegetable oil/vegetable shortening

Melt the candy melts/cooking chocolate with vegetable oil in a microwave in 20 seconds time intervals stirring occasionally. If you are using a double boiler make sure the heat is in medium heat while double boiling the chocolate. If the heat is high the chocolate will be curdled).

Prepare the cake pops.

  1. Remove the top brown part on the cake. (If you add this part it will make the cake pop dry and it will have cracks)
  2. Break the vanilla cake into crumbs in to a large bowl. Stir frosting in to cake crumbs until the mixture is smooth but not sticky. (You can also put the cake and the frosting together in a food processor to make crumbs. )
  3. Chill the cake crumbs in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  4. Take one tablespoons of cake mixture and roll into bowls. Place them in a tray lined with baking paper.
  5. Dip the end of each lollipop stick in to the chocolate and then insert in to a cake bowl, gently pushing until the stick is half way through. Set the cake pops again in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  6. Now dip each chilled cake pop straight down to the melted chocolate until well coated. (you should see the cake once coated.)
  7. Gently tap off by turning the cake pop in angles to get rid of excess chocolate. Sprinkle any sprinkles you want at this stage.
  8. Place the cake pops upright in a cake pop stand/a piece of Styrofoam/ a firm cardboard box.
  9. Let the cake pops stand in until the chocolate sets. Cake pops are ready once the chocolate has set. Enjoy!
