Spaghetti with Meatballs

This is a simple spaghetti recipe with homemade Italian style meatballs and sauce. These homemade meatballs gives a rich flavour to the spaghetti. Make this for a family dinner and everyone would love it. 


(serves 5)

Ingredients

For the meatballs 

500g minced beef
1 small onions, finely grated
1 tsp garlic paste or crushed
1 egg
2/3rd cup breadcrumbs 
1 tsp salt or as per taste
1/2 tsp black pepper 
1 tsp grated parmesan 
3 tbsp olive oil

For the Sauce

2 tbsp olive oil
1 brown onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 tsp dried mixed herbs (oregano, parsley & thyme)
400g canned tomatoes
500ml/18fl oz beef stock (from a cube)
400g/14oz dried spaghetti
salt and pepper as per taste
Fresh Parsely & Parmesan cheese to garnish


Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes. 
2. Mix all the ingredients and make lime sized balls. Place each meatball in a baking tray and bake for 20-30 minutes. (You can also pan fry the meatballs)
3. Now heat olive oil in a pan and add the crushed garlic, finely chopped onions and saute well. 
4. Then add the canned tomatoes, dried mixed herbs and beef stock water.Add salt and pepper. Mix well and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes. 
5. Once the sauce has simmered, add the meat balls and cook for another 10 minutes in low flame. 
6. Meanwhile, bring a large saucepan water to the boil, add salt and one tablespoons of olive oil and cook the spaghetti according to the packet instructions. 
7. Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and keep aside. 
8. Now put the meatballs sauce on to the spaghetti mix well until the sauce is incorporated to the spaghetti. 
9.Garnish with chopped Parsley and Parmesan cheese. Serve hot. Enjoy!


Notes: 
You may also use store bought meatballs and Pasta sauce. If you are using Pasta sauce, do not add the canned tomatoes and dry herbs.
