Mini Sausage Buns

December 10, 2021
Mini sausage buns are perfect to serve as canapes, snacks or a part of a party buffet. The homemade bun dough makes them buttery and every bite is heavenly. They are all bite sized and very soft. You can also add these to a mini snack platter or a kids birthday party table. If you are looking for a quick and easy recipe, give this recipe a try.

(servings : 24 mini buns)

Ingredients

24 mini sausages (1 inch sized)
300g all purpose flour
1 tsp instant dry yeast
4 tsp white sugar
4 tsp milk powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup warm water
2 tbsp butter (room temperature)
1 egg beaten for egg wash
2 tbsp melted butter for brushing soon after baking

Directions

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients first in a mixing bowl. Then add warm water gradually and mix well until all the flour is incorporated into the flour. Knead into a dough.
  2. Now add butter and knead well for about 10 minutes.
  3. Cover and leave it in a warm place to double in size.
  4. Once the dough has doubled in size, divide the dough into 24 equal dough balls. Tuck in the edges towards the center and roll the balls in to small dough balls. To be more precise you can weigh each dough ball.
  5. Cover and leave it for 15 minutes to rise.
  6. Now roll out each dough ball into a cylinder shape and cover each sausage as in the picture. Pinch and seal the edges.

  7. Cover and let it rise in the baking tray for 15 minutes. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  8. Egg wash the buns and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush melted butter as soon it is baked and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. This will make the buns very soft.
